PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic head on a transverse recording system capable of high-density recording. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head on a transverse recording system is consisted of a magnetic core 1 having a gap part 4, a coil 2 wound around the magnetic core 1, members 3 with high conductivity provided on both the flanks of the magnetic core 1, and members 6 with high magnetic permeability provided outside of the members 3. The members 3 generate eddy currents because of magnetic flux passing over with the variations at a write frequency, thereby limiting the passing of the magnetic flux. In addition, the members 6 confine magnetic flux phi, a leakage of magnetic field from the flanks of the magnetic core part 1 is lessened. Therefore, those two kind of members 3 and 6 weaken the magnetic field from the flanks of the magnetic core to obtain steep magnetic-field distribution near the gap. |
