PURPOSE:To alter a circuit control procedure from a terminal by allowing a device which transmits and receives data to and from the terminal 1 through a circuit to alter the definition of a control table by a circuit control mechanism at a request from the terminal and start initialization. CONSTITUTION:The terminal 5 when requesting transmission by a synchronous basic base control procedure sends synchronizing characters X'16' to the circuit. The circuit control mechanism 40 receive the synchronizing characters and enters the mode of the synchronous basic data transmission control procedure and causes an interruption to the 2nd initializing program 6. When the program 6 detects the interruption, a table 2 for the synchronous basic data transmission control procedure is constructed as the control table of the circuit, and a program for the synchronous basic data transmission control procedure is allocated as a circuit control program 3. Then, data are transmitted and received by commands from the circuit program 3 and circuit control mechanism 40.
