PURPOSE:To execute a calibration with a high accuracy and also at a high speed by providing an AGC switching device, an infinite voltage setting part, and a high speed operating circuit. CONSTITUTION:A level meter is constituted by providing additionally an AGC switching device 10, an infinite voltage setting part 11, and a high speed operating circuit 12, on a conventional device. Also, it is constituted so that it can be used for both a one point AGC and an infinite AGC by switching the AGC switching device 10. That is, to say, when commanding the one point AGC, a deviation quantity of a level meter output voltage and a reference voltage setting part 7 is inputted to a controlling circuit 9, and in case of the infinite AGC, a deviation quantity of the level meter output voltage and the infinite voltage setting part 11 is inputted to the controlling circuit 9. In this way, even in case of continuous casting of a small sectional casting such as billet casting, the calibration can be executed with a high accuracy and quickly.
