PURPOSE:To stably produce a broad metallic strip having good quality by supplying a molten metal to a cooling base plate under movement from a nozzle consisting of a slot having an adequate width and lips having the width smaller than said width so as to contact with the base plate thereby quickly cooling and solidifying the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal is supplied through the nozzle 2 with the slot disposed closely to the cooling base plate 1 under movement so as to thermally contact with the base plate, by which the molten metal is quickly cooled and solidified and the amorphous or crystalline metallic strip is continuously produced. The slot (a) of the above-mentioned nozzle 2 is formed to >=1mm width when measured in the advancing direction as shown by the arrow on the surface of the plate 1 and the widths of a pair of lips (b), (c) forming the slot are respectively made smaller than the above-mentioned width of the slot (a). A gap (d) between the nozzle 2 and the plate 1 is preferably made small than the width of the slot (a). The generation of longitudinal lines, longitudinal cuts, etc. to the resultant strip is thereby obviated and the rupture thereof is prevented. The broad strip is thus stably and continuously produced. |
