PURPOSE:To prevent an unusual increase in engine speed even in case of trouble in a clutch operation detecting system by removing a control for constant speed traveling when a clutch is not operated while the increasing rate of vehicle speed gets above a set value, while traveling at a constant speed. CONSTITUTION:A throttle valve 104 makes opening/closing control of an accelerator operation following throttle valve controlling means 106 according to the detected operating quantity of an accelerator operating member 100 obtained by an accelerator operation quantity detecting means 102. Also, the throttle valve 104 is controlled to be shifted to a constant speed traveling throttle valve controlling means 112 so as to make a detected vehicle speed by a detecting means 108 agree with a target vehicle speed. However, when the operation of a clutch operating member 116 is detected by a clutch operation detecting means 118, or when the detected operating quantity of the accelerator operating member 100 corresponds to the total closure of the throttle valve 104 while the increasing rate of the detected engine speed is above a set value, a changeover command is issued from a forced-changeover of control commanding means 122 to a control changing means 114. And, the throttle valve 104 is changed to an accelerator operation following throttle valve control.
