PURPOSE:To reduce the driving loss, by connecting a rotary intake shut-off valve to a cam shaft, and maintaining the shut-off valve open in a high engine speed range. CONSTITUTION:A rotary intake shut-off valve 36 is provided upstream of a suction valve 22. The shut-off valve 36 is rotated in synchronism with a cam shaft 26 through a cam 40. A hydraulic chamber 52 is formed between the cam 40 and the shut-off valve 36. In a high engine speed range, pressure in the hydraulic chamber 52 is relieved to maintain the shut-off valve 36 open. Accordingly, a driving loss of the shut-off valve in the high engine speed range may be reduced.
