Non-polluting removal of the water mixed with oil, which water is required for individual hydraulic props in underground operation, is achieved by the prop interior being connected to a low-pressure line with the opening of the filling valve when the props are drawn, the necessary vacuum in the prop area being produced by transposing the high pump pressure in the filling line. This is achieved with a combined setting and drawing gun which has a pump of small construction which sits with its drive part in the high-pressure line and with its delivery part in the low-pressure line, both parts being connected to one another by a shaft. The power required for operating the pump is therefore taken from the high-pressure line so that additional units are not required. This substantially eases the strain on the environment and improves the workplace conditions, quite apart from the fact that the efficiency of the entire method is increased, because the liquid mixed with oil can be used repeatedly while protecting the environment. <IMAGE>
