Friction steamer is equipped with a friction plate, a clamping and retaining clip and friction heads pressed against the friction plate by the clip. Each head features a friction lining with a friction surface adjoining the friction plate. The lining consists of a cellular material, e.g. polyurethane foam, with open cells on the friction surface. At least the open cells of the friction surface contain lubricant.
