PURPOSE:To confirm the healthiness of a semiconductor detector without interrupting the measurement of radioactive rays by providing a separating means separating the detection signal from the radioactive ray detector for newtron into alpha-rays from an alpha-ray source and alpha-rays by the n, alpha-reaction. CONSTITUTION:A surface barrier type semiconductor detector 2 is fixed on a radiation source fixing base 1, a small hole 3a with the diameter of about 1mm is bored at the center section of the front side, an n, alpha-reaction material 3 causing n,alpha reaction by thermal neutrons is arranged in close contact, and an alpha-ray source 4 emitting alpha-rays is arranged on the front side of the material 3. When thermal neutrons collide with the material 3, alpha-rays are emitted by the n,<(-reaction. The alpha-rays are detected by the semiconductor detector 2, the detection signal is amplified by an amplifying circuit 5, the pulse amplitude is discriminated by a pulse amplitude discriminating circuit 6, and it is displayed by a measuring/display circuit 7.
