The heating element has an insulating carrier (3) wound with a heating wire (6) and at least one voltage tap-off (17) for providing a relatively low voltage compared to the voltage for the heating wire (6). The carrier (3) incorporates slits (16) through which the feet of the voltage tap-off (17) are fitted, to allow the voltage tap-off to be attached to the carrier (3). Pref. the length of these slits (16) is greater than the width ofthe feet of the voltage tap-off. The slits (16) may extend parallel to the longitudinalt axis of the heating element (1).
