The invented mass spinning process of yarn is characterized in that after stopping spinning on workstations, there is carried out preparation of the workstations for spinning and subsequently yarn is spun on the workstations simultaneously or in groups, or individually in short distribution in time. The individual workstations comprise a fiber feed mechanism (20) of a spinning rotor (21) disposed within a spinning unit (2) situated below a yarn (1) draw-off mechanism (4), above which, there is situated a yarn length compensator (6) and a yarn (1) winding device. Prior actual spinning, the drive of spinning rotors (21) is started and yarn (1) ends on the individual workstations are returned in one or several steps of the yarn (1) draw-off mechanism (4) back to spinning rotors (21) to thereby causing tearing off the thinned yarn (1) ends and their shortening to a needful length on all the workstations. The spinning rotors (21) stop at simultaneous sucking off the torn off yarn ends (1) from the spinning rotors (21) by compressed air and subsequently drives are started for starting spinning on workstations by reversing the run of the yarn (1) draw-off mechanism (4).
