In a control apparatus (100), a controller (120) adjusts an optical axis (O) with respect to a change of a detected total angle (¸) during vehicle stop and avoids adjusting the optical axis (O) with respect to a change of the total angle (¸) during vehicle travel. The controller (120) holds in a volatile manner a road surface angle (¸ r ) reference value and a vehicle attitude angle (¸ v ) reference value. If a switch (236) is turned off, the controller (120) stores the two reference values in a storage in a non-volatile manner. If a vehicle (300) does not start moving within a predetermined period after the switch (235) is turned on, the controller (120) obtains a vehicle attitude angle (¸ v ) and updates the vehicle attitude angle reference value. If the vehicle (300) starts moving within the period, the controller (120) obtains a road surface angle (¸ r ) and adjusts the optical axis (O) using the vehicle attitude angle (¸ v ) or the stored vehicle attitude angle reference value. |
