A hydraulic lash adjuster 30 is adapted to compensate for axial lash between the actuator member (28, fig.1) and the control valve assembly (32, fig.2) of a servo acting injector (10, fig.1). The lash adjuster 30 comprises a lower piston 70, an upper piston 64, an external spring 92 and an internal spring 82. Both springs are axially biasing the upper piston toward the actuator member (28), the internal spring 82 being compressed between the lower piston 70 and the upper piston 64. Moreover, the external spring 92 is arranged to move the upper piston away from the lower piston, preferably by pushing the projection 90 of a transition member 84 which is attached to or integral with the upper piston 64, the transition member then pulling the upper piston 64 along with it and away from the lower piston 70. |
