PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device capable of making a rail vehicle stably travel.SOLUTION: A transformer of a vehicle control device receives supply of AC power from an AC overhead wire, performs voltage conversion and outputs the power to a converter as the AC power. The converter performs AC/DC conversion of the input AC power and outputs the power to an inverter. The inverter performs DC/AC conversion of the output power from the converter and supplies the resultant output power to a load. A control part controls an operating condition of the converter in a range where either one of a temperature of the transformer or a temperature of the converter turns to a temperature within a prescribed acceptable range so that either one of the temperatures does not exceed a prescribed acceptable temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
