PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film excellent in optical isotropy, mechanical strength and dimensional stability at a high temperature, and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The optical film contains, as a main component, an acrylic thermoplastic resin having 50 to 95 mass% of a first structural unit formed of a first monomer selected from a methacrylic acid monomer and methacrylic acid esters, 0.1 to 20 mass% of a second structural unit formed of a second monomer selected from specified N-substituted maleimide compounds, and 0.1 to 49.9 mass% of a third structural unit formed of a third monomer different from the second monomer and selected from specified N-substituted maleimide compounds. In the film, an absolute value of thermal shrinkage is 1.5% or less both in an MD direction and in a TD direction when the film is heated at 120°C for 30 minutes, a folding endurance frequency is 5 times or more both in the MD direction and in the TD direction, an absolute value of a phase difference in an in-plane direction is 20 nm or less, and an absolute value of a phase difference in a thickness direction is 20 nm or less. |
