PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new helical groove working method which is excellent in a setup property and exhibits high processing accuracy, and by which helical groove working of a large lead is enabled, and high working yield can be attained.SOLUTION: In this method, a long bar-shaped workpiece W can be rotated around an axial line X with the axial line X of the workpiece W as a center, a virtual line Yorthogonal to the vertical direction with respect to the axial line X of the workpiece W is assumed, the virtual line Yis shifted in a horizontal direction with respect to the workpiece W, a virtual line Y after shifting is set to the rotation center of a tool holder, the tool holder is rotated and moved in a direction of a workpiece along the virtual line Y, and thus the tool holder is installed so that a tool installed on the tool holder performs working to a predetermined depth of the workpiece W, and a helical groove is worked and formed to the surface of the workpiece W by relatively moving the tool holder in a parallel direction with the axial direction X of the workpiece W while rotating the workpiece W, from such the installation state. |
