<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive controller of a brushless motor which can suppress certainly a current change, a torque change and generation of a noise in a brushless motor, and which can build a motor-driven power steering apparatus having good steering feeling in a low noise when applied as a torque assistant device of the motor-driven power steering apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The drive controller of the brushless motor includes a plurality of excitation phases driven by a rectangular wave-like excitation current. The drive controller of the brushless motor further includes a current instruction value calculating means for calculating a current instruction value to the brushless motor, and a commutation pattern generating part for generating a commutation pattern of each phase given by a predetermined numerical value beforehand set at the commutation time.
