The specification describes aspects of bio-derived polyesters for inclusion in adhesive compositions used to affix labels and the like to polyethylene terephthalate ("PET") surfaces. The polyesters are believed to be especially effective in adhesive compositions used to attach oriented polypropylene ("OPP") labels to the outer surfaces of PET-based bottles and other PET containers/substrates. In addition to being derived from renewable materials, the polyester constituent is believed to enable more complete separation of any residual adhesive (and associated label material) that may be retained on post-consumer PET material for enhanced purity of recovered PET recyclate for ultimate re-use in PET plastic recycling/recovery operations. |
