PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system which provides a high-grade image by improving ink image formation on a recording medium using a treatment liquid. SOLUTION: The image forming system includes a carriage 32 intended for relative movement of an ink jet recording head 1 which discharges ink containing a coloring material to a recording medium P from an ink outlet, an application roller 33 as a treatment liquid application means which applies a treatment liquid which coagulates the coloring material in the ink to a recording medium or an absorbing body 31. The treatment liquid application means applies the treatment liquid by contacting the recording medium in a state of collision, prior to ink discharge to the recording medium P by an ink jet recording head. The treatment liquid application means is mounted on the carriage. |
