This user equipment in a radio communication system that supports D2D communication is provided with: a determination unit which determines whether or not a D2D signal can be transmitted in a second region by receiving a first region in radio frames which, shared in downlink communication and uplink communication with a base station, include the first region in which a downlink pilot signal and a downlink control signal are mapped and a second region in which downlink user data or uplink data is mapped; and a transmission unit which, if the determination unit determines that transmission of the D2D signal is possible, transmits the D2D signal in the second region using radio frames in which a D2D physical control channel and a D2D physical data channel are time multiplexed.
