In a method and an apparatus for obtaining fresh water (FW) from an aqueous starting solution (SW) that has a higher concentration of salt dissolved in the starting solution than the fresh water, the actual desalination (3) of the starting solution is energy-optimized and enhanced by combining two partial processes, i.e. a first process (1, 2), in which energy is released, and a second desalination process (3, 4), in which energy is consumed overall and of which the desalination (3) of the starting solution is part; for this purpose, the first partial process (1, 2) is energetically coupled (8', 8") to the second partial process (3, 4) in such a way that energy released in the first partial process is fed to the second partial process by means of an absorption-desorption circuit. |
