The invention relates to a tool for roughening a borehole surface, comprising a coupling portion (12) for clamping the tool (10) in a drilling device, and a tool head (14) for machining the borehole surface, the tool head (14) having an outer lateral surface (16) on which cutting means (18) are arranged. In order to be able to easily and cost-effectively roughen a borehole surface, the outer lateral surface (18) is convex along a longitudinal direction (a) of the tool. Also disclosed is a method for roughening a borehole surface.
