<p>365,226. Golf-club bags. WRIGHT, F., St. Editha's, Scarborough Road, Filey, Yorkshire. Nov. 3, 1930, No. 32992. [Class 132 (ii).] The mouth of a golf bag, provided with a hinged flap, is inclined to the longitudinal axis of the bag to provide ready access for both long and short clubs, and means are provided whereby, when the bag is stood on end and the hinged flap raised, the clubs are projected upwards above the mouth of the bag. The bag consists of a covering of leather or other material 1 on a skeleton framework which does not reach to the bottom of the bag thus leaving a collapsable portion 2 provided with the bottom plate. The mouth 4 is curved upwards from the front to accommodate clubs of different length and the portion 2 is normally distended by the club heads contacting with a hinged flap 3, held by a tongue 5 and turn-button 6 or by a hasp and padlock. When the flap 3, which may be turned back and down, and held by the tongue 5 engaging a turn-button 7, is raised, the portions 2 collapses, the club heads then projecting above the mouth 4. A ball-cleaning device comprising a sponge suitably held in a saucer-shaped disc 8 and a pocket for carrying a scoring card are fitted to the inside of the cover. Further pockets 14, 19, straps 17, 18, and bar 15 carrying a leather apron 16 to separate wooden and iron clubs are provided. In a modification the collapsable portion 2 is replaced by a spring- supported false bottom.</p> |
