Differential signal transmission

Transport of differential signals is provided. In one aspect, a telecommunications system includes a first unit and a second unit. The first unit can calculate a differential signal from an original signal. The differential signal can represent a change in signal levels between constant time intervals in the original signal. The second unit can estimate the original signal from the differential signal received from the first unit over a communication medium.

1. A method, comprising:
receiving, at a first unit of a telecommunications system, a digital data stream that includes a differential signal determined from a digitized original Radio Frequency (RF) signal at a second unit remotely located from the first unit, the differential signal including a change in signal levels of the digitized original RF signal between constant time intervals; determining, from the differential signal extracted from the digital data stream, an estimated signal that is an estimate of the digitized original RF signal; and converting the estimated signal to an RF signal.
