A protective circuit (50) for protecting a liquid crystal display (100). The liquid crystal display (100) comprises a display panel (30) and a level converter (10) which provides a clock signal for the display panel (30) via an output line; the protective circuit (50) comprises a first transistor (Q1), a detection circuit (51) and a controller (53) which is electrically connected to both the first transistor (Q1) and the detection circuit (51); the first transistor (Q1) is electrically connected to the detection circuit (51) and the output line; the clock signal is output to the display panel (30) via the first transistor (Q1); the detection circuit (51) detects the clock signal and determines whether the clock signal is normal; and the controller (53) controls the level converter (10) to stop outputting the clock signal to the display panel (30) when the clock signal is abnormal. Also provided is a liquid crystal display (100) with the protective circuit (50). When a clock signal is abnormal, transmission of said signal to the display panel is stopped so that the display panel (30) can be effectively protected.
