The invention relates to a fuel injector (200; 300) for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. The fuel injector (200; 300) has the following: (a) a pole piece (202; 302), (b) an armature (204; 304; 404a; 404b) which can be moved along a movement axis, (c) a coil (206; 306), and (d) a permanent magnet (208; 308). The movable armature (204; 304; 404a; 404b) has at least one electrically insulating element which is designed to reduce eddy currents in the armature (204; 304; 404a; 404b), and the permanent magnet (208; 308) is provided so as to generate a magnetic field (216; 316) which produces a force that acts on the armature (204; 304; 404a; 404b) in the direction of the pole piece (202; 302). The invention further relates to a method for ascertaining a position (504) of a movable armature (204; 304; 404a; 404b) in a fuel injector (200; 300) and to a motor control. |
