A water treatment cartridge (1) comprises a base (8) having a recess (10) therein. One outlet is located in the recess (10) in the base (8) and at least one further outlet (14) is located away from the recess (10) in the base (8). The outlet located in the recess (10) in the base (8) may be surrounded by an annular wall (13) which projects away from the base (8) of the water treatment cartridge (1) to cooperate with a hopper in which the cartridge (1) is fitted. The outlets (14) can be designed to restrict the flow of water through the cartridge (1) independently of any hopper in which the cartridge (1) is mounted. |
