Disclosed are a method and device for determining a data transmission path, which relate to the technical field of communications and can save transmission resources. The method of the embodiments of the present invention comprises: a second access session boundary controller (ASBC) acquiring an encryption strategy of a first ASBC and an encryption strategy of the second ASBC; when the encryption strategy of the first ASBC and the encryption strategy of the second ASBC are the same, the second ASBC acquiring the type of negotiation information; the second ASBC judging whether the encryption strategy of the first ASBC and the type of the negotiation information satisfy a pre-set condition; and when the encryption strategy of the first ASBC and the type of the negotiation information satisfy the pre-set condition, the second ASBC determining that a first user equipment (UE) and a second UE perform data transmission via a target transmission path between the first UE and the second UE. The present invention is applicable to a network communication system.
