PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyarylene sulfide resin porous body having excellent processability, a large surface area, a small average pore diameter and a small maximum through-hole diameter, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a polyarylene sulfide resin porous body, the method comprising, as essential steps, a step 1 of heating and dissolving a branched polyarylene sulfide resin (a) having a melt viscosity of 800 Pa s and a solvent (b) having a melting point of 100°C or less and capable of dissolving the polyarylene sulfide resin to obtain a dissolved product which is compatibilized; a step 2 of extruding the dissolved product; a step 3 of phase separating the branched polyarylene sulfide resin (a) and the solvent (b) by cooling and solidifying the extruded product; and a step 4 of removing the solvent (b) from the resulting extruded product by using a solvent (c) which neither dissolves nor swells the polyarylene sulfide resin and is compatible with the solvent (b). |
