(a) intravenously administering to a patient in need an effective amount of allogenic, bone marrow-derived ischemic tolerant mesenchymal stem cells (itMSCs) to said patient; and (b) measuring said patient's performance score(s) on mental state assessment tools relative to said patient's performance score(s) on said assessment tools prior to step (a).
