[Class 122 (v)] Oil throwers, particularly for dynamo-electric machinery, are arranged to provide alternate narrow clearances and expansion chambers, thus preventing disturbance of the oil by air currents, while permitting axial movement of the shaft. The oil throwers 2 on the shaft 1 are of saw-tooth section and are arranged slightly staggered from ribs 4a of similar section in the casing 3, thus forming narrow clearances. The oil-collecting grooves, which are drained by passages 5, from the expansion chambers.
