The invention relates to a three-way catalyst (8) which is capable of carrying out three separate reactions, including a reduction reaction of nitrogen oxides to give dinitrogen and carbon dioxide, an oxidation of carbon monoxide to give carbon dioxide and an oxidation of unburned hydrocarbons to give carbon dioxide and water and which is intended to equip an exhaust line (4) with which an internal combustion engine (1) of a motor vehicle is provided. The three-way catalyst (8) comprises a first individual three-way catalyst (8a), which comprises a metal substrate and a second individual three-way catalyst (8b) which comprises a ceramic substrate.
