Provided is a driving method for a display device that is provided with a display panel 10 that includes a color filter substrate 20 having a lattice-shaped light shielding portion 23 and colored portions 22R, 22G, 22B of a plurality of colors, said portions being formed in regions surrounded by the pattern of the light shielding portion 23 and having different colors for each region, wherein one display pixel is composed of each combination of the colored portions 22R, 22G, 22B of a plurality of colors, and a light shielding region A4 is formed in at least a part of an edge portion of the display panel 10, said portion running parallel to the external shape of the display panel 10. Colored portions 22D, from among the colored portions 22R, 22G, 22B located in the vicinity of the light shielding region A4 when seen in plan view of the display panel 10, that do not constitute display pixels are configured to always display black. |
