A transport system (1) has an elongate tank (2) for fitting on a truck or rail car. It has a drive shaft (30) extending along its length offset downwardly from a central axis of the tank. A series of paddles (20 — 23) are mounted on the drive shaft, mutually offset by 45 degrees. An hydraulic drive (10) is independent of the vehicle. The paddle arrangements prevent high-viscosity liquids such as foodstuffs with protein particulates from crystallizing or otherwise solidifying. The drive shaft is lower than a longitudinal axis of the tank, thereby allowing use of paddles with radial arms which are shorter than if the shaft were central, and allowing a fixed installation of overhead wash heads (6, 7). <Figure 4> |
