The invention is related to the field of polymer chemistry, in particular, to new irregular poly-1,3,4-oxadiazole copolymers having enhanced heat resistance and fire resistance that can be used for production of highly strong, heat-resistant and fire-resistant fibres, filaments and fabrics for chemical, metallurgical and other industries as well as composite plastics, woven packing glands and friction articles. Proposed is a poly-1,3,4-oxadiazole copolymer of irregular structure containing alternating monobromophenylene and phenylene-1,3,4-oxadiazole monomer units and having general formula (I)where n and m are integers, and bromine content is 1-35 wt.%. Also proposed are a process for production of said poly-1,3,4-oxadiazole copolymer and fibres of enhanced fire resistance and heat resistance produced from solution of such poly-1,3,4-oxadiazole copolymer.
