A braille actuator and a braille output device using the same are disclosed. The braille actuator of the present invention comprises: an electromagnet installed on the bottom thereof, the polarity of which is changed according to the flow of a current; a rotary member that has an upper inclined surface and has a permanent magnet installed on the lower surface thereof such that the rotary member is rotated by the attractive or repulsive force between the permanent magnet and the electromagnet; and a braille protrusion that has a lower inclined surface that makes contact with the inclined surface of the rotary member, and moves upward or downward along the inclined surface of the rotary member when the rotary member rotates. In the above-configured actuator of the present invention, the rotary member is rotated by the repulsive or attractive force between the electromagnet and the permanent magnet of the rotary member, which is induced by the current applied to the electromagnet, and the upper surface of the rotating rotary member moves the bottom of the braille protrusion upward to output braille. Thereafter, even though the supply of the current to the electromagnet is cut off, the braille protrusion is maintained in the output state while being supported by the rotary member, which makes it possible to significantly reduce the power consumption required for outputting the braille. |
