USB CONNECTIONS

A method of configuring a Universal Serial Bus, USB, connection between a first device (22) and a second device (23), the USB connection comprising a plurality of data channels, each having a pair of signal links (26), each signal link including a port (212, 213) in each of the devices at either end of the connection, a controller (28) for the ports (212, 213), and a signal wire extending between corresponding ports (212, 213), each signal wire formed of one or more physical wires. The signal links (26) of the data channels are first configured to be capable of transmitting data bidirectionally, and a first direction for transmission of data for each of the bidirectionally configured signal links (26) is first determined based on an initial required data transmission capacity in each direction between the first (22) and second (23) devices. Thereafter, depending on required capacity in the different directions, a selection is made which of the bidirectionally configured signal links (26) that are transmitting data in the first direction should change their direction of transmission to a second direction and a redirecton signal is sent to each of the selected bidirectionally configured signal links (26) to cause the selected bidirectionally configured signal links (26) to change their direction of transmission of data to a second direction.
