A bearing system (A) comprises a bearing (40) configured to be mounted to a shaft (20). A bearing housing (50) interfaces the bearing (40) to a structure (60). An annular gap is defined between an outer annular surface (53) of the bearing housing (50) and the structure (60) and configured to receive oil therein. An outlet (59) defined in an outer section surface (54) of the bearing housing (50) is oriented toward a component axially spaced from the bearing (40). A fluid passageway (58) between the at least one outlet (59) and the annular gap for fluid communication therebetween. In use the fluid passageway (58) directs pressurized oil from the annular gap to the outlet (59) to reach the adjacent component. A method for using oil from a bearing (40) to cool or lubricate a component axially spaced from the bearing (40) is also provided.
