PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing fraying of a knitted fabric, which can prevent fraying of a knitted fabric more simply and reliably than a conventional method.SOLUTION: In a method for preventing fraying of a knitted fabric, a fabric is knitted by using a flat knitting machine which has a knitting yarn cutting mechanism for cutting a knitting yarn extending from the fabric knitted on a needle bed to a yarn feeder 9 and can transfer a stitch between front and rear needle beds, and then fraying-prevention processing is applied to a terminal stitch 10 of the knitted fabric. The method for preventing fraying of the knitted fabric includes the following steps α to γ: a step α of knitting a new fraying-prevention stitch 12 on the terminal stitch 10 held on the needle bed; a step &bgr; of cutting the knitting yarn extending from the fraying-prevention stitch 12 to the yarn feeder 9 by a knitting yarn cutting mechanism 5; and a step γ of moving the fraying-prevention stitch 12 from a position upon knitting and thereby drawing a cut end 12e of the fraying-prevention stitch 12 out of the terminal stitch 10. |
