Provided in the present invention are: a method to coat a separator for a fuel cell; and the separator for a fuel cell. The coating method of the separator for a fuel cell according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: producing precursor gas by vaporizing a nitride metal precursor; drawing nitride metal coating layer formation gas including precursor gas and reactive gas into a reaction chamber; forming a nitride metal coating layer on a basic material by changing the precursor gas and the reactive gas into a plasma state by adding a voltage to the reaction chamber; drawing carbon layer formation gas including carbon gas into the reaction chamber; and forming a carbon coating layer on the nitride metal coating layer by changing the carbon gas into a plasma state by adding a voltage to the reaction chamber.
