A chute assembly for a packaging apparatus featuring a first chute 14 with an internal surface 17, having an inclination to the horizontal so as to direct a product downwardly. There is also a second chute 13 with an internal surface 19 which has an inclination to the horizontal, and the second chute 13 is positioned below the first chute 14 so as to receive product therefrom. The inclination of the surface of the second chute 13 is greater than the inclination of the surface of the first chute 14. A metal detector 21 also surrounds the internal surface 17 of the first chute 14 so as to detect metal passing through the first chute 14. Also disclosed is a metal detector 21 surrounding a chute 14, featuring a plurality of windings 22 of decreasing radius that surround the chute 14. Optionally, there is a guide member 16 located within the first chute 14. |
