A filler, e.g. kieselguhr or kaolin, is incorporated in a thin film or sheet of plasticised ethyl cellulose, to impart a roughened surface and thus improve the bonding with an adhesive with which one face is coated. Vegetable oils or derived fatty acids may be used as plasticisers and any suitable adhesive may be used. In an example a film formed of four parts ethyl cellulose, four parts castor oil, and one part kaolin is described. The Provisional Specification describes the use both of unroughened films and of films roughened by casting on to roughened glass.ALSO:A filler, e.g., kieselguhr or kaolin, is incorporated in a thin film or sheet of plasticized ethyl cellulose, for use as an adhesive surgical dressing or plaster, to impart a roughened surface and thus improve the bonding with an adhesive with which one face is coated.
