The method involves inserting a material blank (2) of a fibrous mat in a shaping tool (3) with an upper matrix (4) and lower matrix (5), where the shaping tool is closed for forming the material blank along a closing direction (6). An edge (8) of the material blank is trimmed by a trimming tool (9). A matrix resin is injected in a cavity between the upper matrix and lower matrix and in the material blank after closing of the shaping tool. An independent claim is included for a system for manufacturing a cup-shaped plastic part.
