PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which improves smoothness in recording a moving image and is capable of reducing blur of a still picture, and further to provide an imaging method.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an imaging device which performs photoelectric conversion on an incident optical image. In the imaging apparatus, when capturing a still picture while capturing a moving image, exposure is performed by dividing a time period corresponding to one frame of moving image into a plurality of time periods, and a plurality of image data are acquired by performing processing using an imaging processing section (image outputs in t13-t16). Subject images in the plurality of image data are aligned, and the plurality of image data are combined and recorded as still image data (still picture recording). If a camera shake amount is greater than a predetermined amount, a plurality of image data continuously obtained from the plurality of image data are combined without aligning the subject images to generate a plurality of combined image data, then the plurality of combined image data are further combined by aligning the subject images, and recorded as one frame of moving image data (moving image recording).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
