Disclosed is an inlet arrangement 6 for fuel pump 4 of an internal combustion engine. The inlet arrangement comprises a first fuel flow path via a first inlet arm 10 and first filter 22, and a second fuel flow path along a second inlet arm 12 and a second filter 24. The first filter 22 has a larger mesh size than the second filter 24. A selection valve is operable to select the flow path. In an embodiment the selection valve is operable in response to fuel temperature, via an ECU, to select the first or second flow paths, to direct cold, waxed fuel through along the first flow path, and when fuel temperature rises above a threshold, along the second flow path. The first and second flow paths may be arranged such that both paths are formed along a branching path such that the paths share a common inlet section 8. The fuel may be supplied from the main fuel tank or a secondary fuel tank. The arrangement allows for reliable supply of fuel during cold start of an engine. |
