The present invention is a pant-type disposable diaper having mutually orthogonal vertical direction, transverse direction and front-to-back direction and having an abdominal section, a back section, a waist-encircling opening and a pair of leg-encircling openings. The abdominal section and the back section are stretchable in the transverse direction. The abdominal section and the back section overlap each other in the front-to-back direction. At the respective edges in the transverse direction, the abdominal section and the back section are connected. The upper edge of the abdominal section that forms the waist-encircling opening and/or the upper edge of the back section that forms the waist-encircling opening has a single downward-extending cut section located to the inside of the respective edges in the transverse direction. When viewing the diaper in the front-to-back direction, the entire lengths of both the upper edge of the abdominal section and the upper edge of the back section are located below or on an imaginary line drawn between the upper ends of the respective edges in the transverse direction. |
