[Class 78 (i)] An apparatus for conveying material in bulk over a support 1 in which the support is stationary and the conveyer members 3 reciprocate over it, is characterized in that the conveyer members slide over and are pressed into contact with the support, the conveyer members being wedge-shaped so that they push the material on their forward stroke and slide through it on their backward stroke. As shown, cement clinker falls from shoot 32 on to support 1 and is urged forward by reciprocating members 3 and is discharged at 35. Conveyer members 3 slide over portion 2 of surface 1 and are resiliently secured to beams 15 and 18 and 19 by means of bolts 10, springs 14 and nuts 13; and are reciprocated by driving- arms 24 which have a roller 25 which engage with lugs 23 fixed on beam 19. The conveyer members are formed with holes so that air entering at 37 passes up through these holes in the conveyer members and cools the clinker, the air being divided by partition 36 to allow the hotter portion to escape at 33 to the cement kiln and the cooler portion to go waste at 34. Air also escapes through the holes shown in surface 1 and additionally is introduced at 38 to escape through holes in support 39. The clinker as it falls down shoot 32 may be spread by distributing units, not shown, so as to divide into several flows and spread over the surface evenly. |
