PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve illumination efficiency of illumination light with which a light modulation element is irradiated.SOLUTION: The present invention is an image projection device including image creation means, illumination optical means, and projection means, and the image projection device further includes first control means and second control means. The image creation means has a light modulation element that creates an image by using light emitted from a light source. The illumination optical means has one or more optical elements for guiding the light emitted from the light source to the image creation means. The projection means projects the image created by the image creation means. The first control means performs control of moving the image creation means that can move with respect to the illumination optical means. The second control means performs control of moving an illumination area showing an area irradiated with the light guided to the image creation means by the illumination optical means according to the amount of movement of the image creation means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
