According to one embodiment of the present invention, an endoscope device is provided with: a light source; a bendable inserting unit to be inserted into a subject to be observed; a light guide path, which is provided in the inserting unit, and guides light outputted from the light source; an illuminating light output unit, which is provided at a leading end of the inserting unit, and outputs, as illuminating light, at least a part of the light to the subject to be observed, said light having been guided by means of the light guide path; a bend sensor that detects the bending state of at least a part of the inserting unit; and an illuminating light control unit that controls optical characteristics of the illuminating light on the basis of the bending state of the inserting section, said bending state having been detected by means of the bend sensor. |
