The present invention relates to a broadband coaxial connector, and more specifically, to a coaxial connector having broadband frequency characteristics to improve a transition characteristic between a coaxial transmission line of the coaxial connector and a transmission line of a board. The coaxial connector according to the present invention comprises: a center conductor having one end including a first terminal formed therein and the other end corresponding to the one end and including a second terminal formed therein, wherein the first terminal receives a signal and the second terminal transmits the signal; an insulator formed along an outer surface of the center conductor; and an outer shield covering the outside of the center conductor and the insulator. The center conductor has a round shape at the first terminal portion and has a rectangular shape at the second terminal portion, so that broadband electrical properties can be obtained by including a buffering propagation mode as an intermediate stage of a Quasi-TEM propagation mode in the connector without directly switching a transverse electric and magnetic (TEM) propagation mode of the coaxial transmission line into a propagation mode of the transmission line on the board such as the Quasi-TEM propagation mode in the connector. In addition, the size of the coaxial connector is changed through a change in a dielectric constant of a dielectric surrounding the center conductor having the rectangular shape at the second terminal portion so as to be optimized for the size of the propagation mode varying depending on the line width of the transmission line of the printed circuit board and the thickness of the board, thereby obtaining a low return loss and broadband characteristics. |
